Dracaena sanderiana, commonly known as "Lucky Bamboo", isn't actually bamboo at all. Instead, it's a species of Dracaena that's often grown in water but can also be planted in soil. Its association with feng shui, where it's believed to bring good fortune, has contributed to its popularity, especially as a houseplant or office plant.

Description:

• Stems: Tall, slender green stalks that can be trained to grow in curls, spirals, or straight up.

• Leaves: Thin, lance-shaped leaves that sprout from the tops or sides of the stalks. Overexposure to sunlight can cause leaves to turn yellow.

Care Guide:

1. Light: Lucky Bamboo prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light levels but avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

2. Water: If you're growing it in water, make sure to replace the water every two to four weeks to prevent algae formation and provide fresh nutrients. Use distilled or filtered water, as tap water with chlorine or fluoride can harm the plant. If you're growing it in soil, keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy.

3. Vessel: When grown in water, any transparent vase or container works well. The roots should be submerged, with a little space for growth.

4. Humidity: It appreciates higher humidity but can tolerate average household humidity levels. If you notice the leaf tips turning brown, it could be a sign that the humidity is too low.

5. Temperature: They prefer temperatures between 65°F (18°C) and 90°F (32°C). Protect your plant from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

6. Soil: If planting in soil, a well-draining potting mix is suitable.

7. Feeding: When grown in water, feeding isn't usually necessary. If you choose to, use a very diluted liquid fertilizer every couple of months. For those grown in soil, you can feed with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer).

8. Pruning: You can trim the tops to limit height or snip off side shoots to maintain a specific look. If you cut the main stalk, new shoots will typically emerge from below the cut.

9. Pests: While typically pest-free, watch out for common indoor pests like spider mites and mealybugs.

10. Propagation: To propagate, cut off a healthy shoot with at least one node (the raised ring on the stalk). Let the cut end dry for a day or two, then place it in water or soil to root.

11. Caution: Dracaena sanderiana is mildly toxic when ingested. Keep it out of reach of pets and children.

Remember, despite its common name, Lucky Bamboo isn't a true bamboo. Real bamboo has very different care requirements. Always ensure you know which plant you're dealing with, especially when providing care!
