Commonly known as a Master wort, the Astrantia is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial whose unique flowers create a delicate display for your home or garden. Native to the woodlands of Southern Europe and the Caucasus, these easy-to-grow plants add a traditional cottage garden look to your space. The lightly veined leaves sit below a small dome of coloured buds that display white petals, which will flower between May and June.

When should I plant my Astrantia?
Astrantia is best planted at the beginning of the year when the soil is newly thawed from the winter frosts. For the best results in the flowering period, plant between February and April.

How do I grow Astrantia?
Plant in a sunny or slightly shaded area with well-draining clay or loam soil Water when the top of the soil becomes dry and cut back after flowers have faded to tidy and encourage a fresh flush of leaf growth

Does Astrantia grow in the shade?
Yes, Astrantia will grow in the shade, but we recommend that they receive a few hours of sun, if possible, to give you the best and most striking flowers.
This ASTRANTIA major Shaggy comes in a 9cm Pot
