This gritty mix of crushed granite, quartz and sandstone creates a fine sand that is ideal for use in the growing of plants. There are many uses for this sand, the main being to loosen heavy, clay soils to provide better drainage and aeration. It is also an ideal potting mix for growing plants in containers when mixed with compost or peat as this course substrate won’t compact and become waterlogged.

Growing succulents or cacti?

This horticultural sand is ideal for them if mixed with equal amounts of potting mix or compost. And much like these plant that need very specific requirements this sand is an ideal addition to the soil for seedlings or cuttings, where it provides a loose structure that helps new roots to form quickly.
