Staghorn fern (Platycerium bifurcatum) is an epiphytic fern that is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It is commonly grown as a houseplant, especially for its unique and attractive foliage. Here are some care tips for staghorn ferns:

  1. Light: Staghorn ferns prefer bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.

  2. Watering: Water the fern once a week by spraying the leaves and roots with water until the soil is thoroughly moist. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, but do not let it completely dry out.

  3. Humidity: Staghorn ferns thrive in high humidity. To maintain adequate humidity, mist the leaves regularly and place the plant on a tray filled with pebbles and water.

  4. Fertilizer: Feed the plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).

  5. Potting: Staghorn ferns are epiphytic plants that grow on other plants or structures. They can be mounted on a board or hung in a basket. When mounting the plant, use a well-draining potting mix that is rich in organic matter.

  6. Temperature: Staghorn ferns prefer warm temperatures, between 65-80°F (18-27°C).

  7. Pruning: Prune any damaged or dead leaves and fronds to maintain the plant's health and appearance.
