The Haworthia retusa is a popular succulent that produces a tight rosette of triangular leaves that curve slightly to produce a star shaped look that gives it the name ‘star cactus’. This low maintenance succulent is a slow growing houseplant that will look great in any space and is ideal for novice houseplant growers. In early spring or summer, it will produce a flowering spike from the centre of the rosette that will produce small flowers after about a month.

How to grow Hawthoria Retusa

Place your Haworthia in a slightly shaded location that receives bright, but indirect sunlight throughout the day. Like all succulents, the Haworthia retusa doesn’t require much watering and it can be easy to overwater. Only water your plant when the soil has dried out completely, and water lightly until the water begins to seep out of the bottom of the pot. In the summer, you can apply a small amount of cactus fertiliser once a month in the summer to promote faster growth.

  • Our plants are provided in a plastic nursery pot. Any decorative pots or props are not included.
