The Phalaenopsis 'Debora' orchid, similar to the 'Amadeus', is an attractive and popular houseplant known for its elegant blooms and twin stems. Here's a detailed care guide for your 60-70cm Phalaenopsis 'Debora' orchid in a 12cm pot:

Description:

  • Height: 60-70cm.
  • Pot Size: 12cm.
  • Stems: Typically features two flowering stems.
  • Flowers: The flowers of the 'Debora' are noted for their vibrant colors and patterns, often in shades of pink, purple, or a mix of colors.
  • Leaves: Broad, glossy, deep green leaves.
  • Blooming Season: Like most Phalaenopsis orchids, it can bloom at any time of year, with each flower capable of lasting several weeks to months.

Care Guide:

  1. Lighting: Provide bright, indirect light. An east or west-facing window is ideal. Direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent leaf burn.

  2. Temperature: Optimal temperatures are between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid sudden temperature changes and keep away from drafts and direct heat sources.

  3. Humidity: These orchids prefer high humidity levels. Place the pot on a humidity tray or use a room humidifier to maintain the right environment, especially during dry periods.

  4. Watering: Water approximately once a week, allowing the top inch of the soil to dry out between watering. Ensure proper drainage to avoid waterlogging.

  5. Feeding: Fertilize with a balanced orchid fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season, reducing to once a month in autumn and winter.

  6. Potting Mix and Repotting: Orchid-specific potting mix is essential for good root health. Repot every 2 to 3 years, or when the potting medium begins to decompose.

  7. Flowering: Post-bloom, cut the stem above a visible dormant bud to encourage reblooming. If the stem dries out or turns yellow, trim it to the base.

  8. General Maintenance: Regularly clean the leaves and maintain good air circulation to prevent disease. Check for pests like spider mites or scale insects.

By adhering to these care instructions, your Phalaenopsis 'Debora' orchid should flourish, adding a splash of color and elegance to your space. Remember, each orchid is unique, so it might require some adjustments in care to meet its specific needs.
