These flowering perennial plants are a part of the Saxifragaceae family. They are commonly called 'false goat's beard' because of their fluffy plumes of white flowers. This plant is often used in traditional medicines and pairs well with Hellebores in the garden.
How do you look after Astilbe?
Plant in a shaded area with dappled light in well-drained soil mixed with some compost. Keep the soil consistently moist and cut back spent plumes to encourage new growth that will provide some winter interest.

Astilbe can grow from 6 '' to 5 feet, depending on the variety, be sure to check the eventual height and spread before purchasing.
