Astilbe
Astilbe is a genus of herbaceous perennials that are native to Asia and North America. They are members of the Saxifragaceae family and are commonly grown as ornamental plants for their showy, feathery plumes of flowers that bloom in the late spring and summer. Astilbe are popular in shade gardens, woodland gardens, and as cut flowers.
Astilbe have a clump-forming growth habit and produce attractive, glossy green leaves that are divided into smaller leaflets. The leaves are typically bronze or reddish when they emerge in the spring and then turn green as they mature. In the late spring and summer, Astilbe produce showy, feathery plumes of flowers that come in a wide range of colors, including white, pink, red, and lavender. The flowers are typically held above the foliage on tall, sturdy stems and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
