Artemisia

Artemisia is a genus of herbaceous perennials and shrubs that are native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. They are members of the Asteraceae family and are commonly grown as ornamental plants for their attractive, silver-gray foliage and their aromatic qualities. Artemisia are popular in herb gardens, rock gardens, and as companion plants to other perennials.

Artemisia have a clump-forming growth habit and produce finely divided, silver-gray leaves that are arranged in an alternate pattern along the stem. The leaves are typically feathery and fragrant, and some species have a distinctive bitter taste. Artemisia may also produce small, inconspicuous flowers in the summer and fall.
