Camassia
Camassia is a genus of bulbous perennial plants in the Asparagaceae family. The genus includes several species that are native to North America, where they grow in meadows and along streams and rivers. Camassia plants are grown primarily for their attractive flowers, which are produced in spikes or racemes in late spring to early summer.
Camassia flowers are usually blue, but can also be white, pink, or purple. The flowers are star-shaped and have six petals that are fused at the base. The leaves are long and narrow, and grow from the base of the plant. Camassia bulbs are large and round, and should be planted in the fall for best results.
