Crambe
Crambe is a genus of flowering plants in the family Brassicaceae, commonly known as the "sea-kale". It consists of about 25 species of herbaceous perennials that are native to Asia, Europe, and Africa. The most well-known species is Crambe maritima, which is cultivated as a vegetable and also used as an ornamental plant.
Crambe maritima, also known as sea kale, is a hardy perennial that produces large, fleshy leaves and edible shoots that taste similar to asparagus. It is native to coastal regions of Europe, where it grows in sandy or shingle soils close to the sea. The leaves of sea kale are also used as a cooked green vegetable, and the plant is cultivated as an ornamental for its attractive foliage and large, showy flowers.
