The Dark Collection is a bold, moody ensemble of houseplants with deeply pigmented foliage, ranging from midnight black to velvety bronze and shimmering purples. These plants create a sense of depth, contrast, and elegance in indoor displays, especially when paired with lighter-toned greenery or minimalist decor. With a mix of textures — from glossy to velvety — and varied forms, this collection is both sophisticated and full of character. Each plant adds a unique tone and texture to your home jungle, thriving with proper light, care, and a bit of admiration.

🌿 1. Zamioculcas zamiifolia ‘Raven’

Known for its glossy black leaves, ZZ 'Raven' is a tough, slow-growing plant that starts out green and darkens to a striking near-black hue as it matures.

  • Light: Low to bright indirect light (very adaptable)

  • Water: Allow soil to dry completely between waterings

  • Humidity: Tolerant of dry air

  • Soil: Well-draining mix (add perlite to regular houseplant soil)

  • Feeding: Every 2–3 months during growing season

  • Notes: Very drought-tolerant; avoid overwatering

🌿 2. Philodendron micans

A vining philodendron with velvety, heart-shaped leaves in shades of deep green with bronze and purple undertones that shimmer in the light.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light

  • Water: Keep slightly moist, allowing top 2–3 cm to dry out

  • Humidity: Moderate to high preferred

  • Soil: Well-draining, airy mix (potting soil + perlite + orchid bark)

  • Feeding: Monthly during active growth

  • Notes: Can be trained to climb or trail; prune to encourage bushiness

🌿 3. Philodendron ‘Florida Bronze’

A rare, statement-making philodendron with deeply lobed leaves in bronze and coppery-green tones. It has a dramatic silhouette and grows into a sculptural form over time.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light

  • Water: Water when top third of the soil is dry

  • Humidity: High preferred (60%+)

  • Soil: Chunky aroid mix with bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir

  • Feeding: Fortnightly with balanced liquid fertiliser during spring/summer

  • Notes: Provide a moss pole for best growth

🌿 4. Maranta leuconeura ‘Fascinator’ (Prayer Plant)

Famous for its vivid burgundy veining, deep green leaves, and the habit of folding up at night. A striking, low-growing plant with a pop of rich colour.

  • Light: Bright, indirect (no direct sun)

  • Water: Keep evenly moist; do not let soil dry completely

  • Humidity: High humidity essential (mist often or use a pebble tray)

  • Soil: Peaty, well-draining mix

  • Feeding: Every 4 weeks in spring/summer with diluted feed

  • Notes: Can be fussy with tap water — use filtered or rainwater

🌿 5. Tradescantia zebrina

A fast-growing trailing plant with iridescent purple, silver and green striped leaves, making it a perfect spiller in hanging pots or mixed arrangements.

  • Light: Bright, indirect to direct morning light

  • Water: Water when top 2–3 cm of soil is dry

  • Humidity: Moderate preferred

  • Soil: Standard potting mix with extra drainage (add perlite)

  • Feeding: Fortnightly during active growth

  • Notes: Pinch tips regularly to encourage fullness and prevent legginess

Tropical Glasshouse Nursery: Our plants are nurtured in our tropical glasshouse nursery located in Lincolnshire, where we maintain an average temperature of 16°C. We do not use cold warehouses, ensuring optimal conditions for plant health.

Plastic Nursery Pots: All our plants are supplied in practical plastic nursery pots. If you prefer a more decorative option, we offer a range of stylish pots available for purchase separately.

Non-Consumable: Please note that our plants are intended for ornamental purposes only unless specifically stated as edible. Ensure you check product descriptions carefully if you are looking for edible varieties.

Variable Heights: The height of our plants can vary by approximately +/- 10%. This natural fluctuation ensures you receive a unique and healthy specimen.

Plant Pot Sizes: Pot sizes may vary by approximately +/- 1cm. To ensure a proper fit, we recommend selecting a decorative pot that is 1-2cm larger than the stated plant pot size. For instance, if you purchase a plant in a 17cm pot, a 18 - 19cm decorative pot would be ideal.

Quarantining: All our houseplants are regularly sprayed with a preventative systemic bug treatment. We do our best to ensure a bug free growing environment however sometimes these can unfortunately be missed, as such we always recommend quarantining plants when they first enter your home and checking them upon arrival for bugs.
