Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Ficus lyrata, commonly known as the Fiddle Leaf Fig, is one of the world's most iconic houseplants, loved for its large, violin-shaped leaves and bold architectural form. Native to the tropical rainforests of West Africa, this striking indoor tree has become a favourite in homes, offices and interior design thanks to its dramatic foliage and elegant upright growth.
Its broad, glossy green leaves feature prominent pale veins and can grow up to 45cm long, creating a lush, sculptural display that instantly transforms any room. As it matures, the plant develops a sturdy woody trunk and an impressive tree-like shape, making it a true statement piece in bright living spaces.
While Fiddle Leaf Figs have a reputation for being slightly more demanding than some houseplants, they are highly rewarding when provided with consistent care. Stable conditions, bright light and careful watering will encourage strong, healthy growth and beautiful new foliage throughout the growing season.
Indoors, Ficus lyrata typically grows to 1.5–3 metres in height, depending on the size of the pot and growing conditions.
Ficus lyrata thrives in bright, indirect light and benefits from several hours of gentle morning or late afternoon sunshine.
Place it close to an east or west-facing window, or near a bright south-facing window with filtered light. Plenty of natural light encourages larger leaves, stronger stems and healthy growth.
Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh midday sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.
Water when the top 3–5cm of compost feels dry.
Water thoroughly until excess moisture drains from the bottom of the pot, then empty any decorative pot or saucer. Allow the compost to dry slightly between waterings, as constantly wet soil can lead to root rot.
Reduce watering during autumn and winter while growth naturally slows.
Avoid frequently moving the plant, as sudden environmental changes can affect watering needs and encourage leaf drop.
Fiddle Leaf Figs prefer moderate to high humidity.
Average household humidity is usually suitable, but higher humidity encourages healthier foliage. If your home is particularly dry, especially during winter, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant near other houseplants.
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 27°C.
Avoid temperatures below 15°C, and protect the plant from cold draughts, radiators and sudden changes in temperature.
Ficus lyrata prefers a stable environment and may drop leaves if conditions change abruptly.
Use a free-draining, nutrient-rich houseplant compost.
A blend of compost, perlite and fine orchid bark provides excellent drainage while retaining sufficient moisture for healthy root development.
Always use a pot with drainage holes.
Feed every 2–4 weeks during spring and summer using a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser.
Reduce feeding during autumn and stop during winter while the plant is growing more slowly.
Repot every 2–3 years, or when roots begin emerging from the drainage holes.
Choose a pot only one size larger than the current container and repot during spring.
Ficus lyrata has a moderate growth rate in bright conditions.
Expected indoor size:
Height: 1.5–3m
Spread: 60–120cm
Regular pruning can encourage branching and help maintain the desired shape.
Prune during spring or early summer to control height or encourage a fuller, bushier canopy.
Remove any damaged or yellowing leaves as needed.
The stems release a milky white sap when cut, so wearing gloves is recommended.
Ficus lyrata is toxic if ingested and should be kept away from pets and young children.
Its milky sap may also cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals.
Brown spots are commonly caused by:
Overwatering
Root rot
Sudden temperature changes
Fungal issues caused by consistently wet compost
Allow the compost to partially dry between waterings and ensure excellent drainage.
Leaf drop can occur due to:
Moving the plant
Cold draughts
Overwatering
Underwatering
Low light levels
Keeping the plant in one bright, consistent location helps minimise stress.
Brown edges are often caused by:
Dry indoor air
Inconsistent watering
Low humidity
Maintaining even moisture and increasing humidity will usually resolve the issue.
Slow growth is usually caused by insufficient light or a lack of nutrients.
Move the plant to a brighter position and feed regularly during spring and summer.
Occasionally affected by:
Spider mites
Scale insects
Mealybugs
Inspect the leaves regularly, particularly the undersides, and treat infestations promptly using an appropriate houseplant insecticide or insecticidal soap.
