Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Ficus elastica 'Exotica', commonly known as the Rubber Plant, is a timeless evergreen houseplant celebrated for its large, glossy leaves and striking upright growth. Native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, this elegant indoor tree is prized for its rich emerald-green foliage, strong architectural form and easy-going nature, making it one of the most popular houseplants for homes, offices and commercial spaces.
The broad, leathery leaves of Ficus 'Exotica' emerge from deep red sheaths before unfurling into beautiful glossy green foliage, creating a lush, tropical display throughout the year. As the plant matures, it develops a sturdy central stem and can become an impressive indoor tree that adds height, structure and sophistication to any room.
Ficus elastica 'Exotica' is highly adaptable and easier to care for than many other Ficus varieties. With bright light and consistent care, it produces steady growth and can remain a stunning feature plant for many years.
Indoors, Ficus elastica 'Exotica' typically grows to 1.5–3 metres in height, depending on the size of the pot and growing conditions.
Ficus 'Exotica' thrives in bright, indirect light but also adapts well to moderate light conditions.
Place it near an east or west-facing window, or slightly back from a bright south-facing window. Bright conditions encourage larger leaves, stronger growth and a fuller appearance.
Avoid prolonged exposure to intense midday sunshine, which can scorch the foliage.
Water when the top 3–5cm of compost feels dry.
Water thoroughly until excess water drains from the bottom of the pot, then empty any remaining water from the saucer or decorative pot. Allow the compost to dry slightly between waterings, as constantly wet soil can lead to root rot.
Reduce watering during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.
Average household humidity is perfectly suitable for Ficus 'Exotica'.
Although it appreciates moderate humidity, it performs well in most indoor environments without requiring regular misting.
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 27°C.
Avoid temperatures below 15°C, and protect the plant from cold draughts, air conditioning and sudden changes in temperature.
Use a free-draining, nutrient-rich houseplant compost.
A blend of compost, perlite and fine orchid bark provides excellent drainage while retaining enough moisture for healthy root development.
Always grow in a pot with drainage holes.
Feed every 2–4 weeks during spring and summer using a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser.
Reduce feeding during autumn and stop during winter while the plant is growing more slowly.
Repot every 2–3 years, or when the roots begin filling the pot.
Move into a container only one size larger and repot during spring.
Ficus elastica 'Exotica' has a moderate growth rate in bright conditions.
Expected indoor size:
Height: 1.5–3m
Spread: 60–120cm
Pruning can be used to maintain a more compact or bushier shape.
Prune during spring or early summer to encourage branching and control the overall size.
Remove any damaged or yellowing leaves as needed.
Like all Rubber Plants, the stems release a milky white sap when cut, so gloves are recommended.
Ficus elastica 'Exotica' is toxic if ingested and should be kept away from pets and young children.
Its milky sap may also cause mild skin irritation in sensitive individuals.
Yellow leaves are usually caused by overwatering or poor drainage.
Allow the compost to partially dry between waterings and ensure excess water drains away freely.
Leaf drop may occur after sudden environmental changes such as:
Moving the plant
Cold draughts
Sudden temperature changes
Overwatering
Underwatering
Providing stable growing conditions will encourage healthy new growth.
Brown leaf edges are commonly caused by:
Dry indoor air
Inconsistent watering
Low humidity
Maintaining even moisture and avoiding prolonged drought usually prevents this problem.
Dust can accumulate on the large leaves over time, reducing their natural shine.
Wipe the leaves occasionally with a soft, damp cloth to keep them clean, glossy and able to absorb as much light as possible.
Occasionally affected by:
Spider mites
Mealybugs
Scale insects
Inspect the leaves regularly and treat infestations promptly using an appropriate houseplant insecticide or insecticidal soap.
Yes. Ficus elastica 'Exotica' is one of the easiest large houseplants to grow, making it ideal for beginners and experienced plant owners alike.
Water when the top few centimetres of compost feel dry. Avoid keeping the compost constantly wet.
It tolerates moderate light, but bright, indirect light encourages stronger growth, larger leaves and a fuller plant.
Leaf drop is usually caused by sudden environmental changes, inconsistent watering or cold temperatures. The plant will normally recover once conditions become stable.
With good care, it typically grows between 1.5 and 3 metres, making it a superb statement plant for living rooms, offices and conservatories.
With its large glossy leaves, bold upright growth and timeless elegance, Ficus elastica 'Exotica' is a classic houseplant that instantly transforms any indoor space. Hardy, easy to care for and beautifully architectural, it provides year-round greenery and makes an impressive focal point in both modern and traditional interiors.
