Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. Philodendron erubescens ‘White Princess’ is one of the most desirable and elegant tropical houseplants, adored for its creamy-white variegation, pink-blushed stems, and upright, compact growth habit. A sophisticated hybrid from the Araceae family, this self-heading Philodendron combines refinement and rarity, making it a true showpiece for collectors and interior stylists alike.
Each glossy, elongated leaf displays a dramatic mix of green, white, and subtle pink marbling, often with half-moon variegation that creates a crisp, painterly contrast. The stems are streaked with pink and ivory, adding another layer of colour and visual intrigue. Unlike vining Philodendrons, ‘White Princess’ maintains an upright, structured form that remains neat and manageable while still producing large, statement leaves.
Chic, luminous, and full of tropical allure, Philodendron ‘White Princess’ is a modern collector’s treasure — a plant that effortlessly blends rarity, grace, and visual drama.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Ample brightness preserves the crisp white variegation and pink accents. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the white portions, and low light, which may cause reversion to solid green. Position near an east- or west-facing window filtered by sheer curtains for best results.
Keep the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry to the touch. Overwatering can quickly lead to root rot, while underwatering may cause drooping or browning leaf edges. In winter, water less frequently but maintain steady humidity.
Temperature: Prefers warmth between 20–28 °C; avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 16 °C.
Humidity: Requires moderate to high humidity (60–80%). Mist occasionally or use a humidifier to keep the pink and white variegation pristine and free from crisping.
Use a well-draining, airy aroid mix, ideally composed of compost, orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir. This ensures excellent aeration and moisture balance. Repot every 1–2 years in spring to refresh nutrients and encourage root expansion. Providing a small moss pole or stake can help support its upright form.
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced fertiliser formulated for foliage plants. Over-fertilising can harm variegated tissue and cause leaf burn. Suspend feeding in autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.
Prune green-dominant leaves to encourage variegated regrowth and maintain balanced colouration. Remove yellow or damaged leaves at the base using sterilised scissors. Wipe the foliage gently with a damp cloth to highlight its glossy texture and remove dust. Rotate regularly for even light exposure and symmetrical growth.
A slow to moderate grower, Philodendron ‘White Princess’ typically reaches 60–90 cm in height indoors. Mature specimens develop larger leaves with more pronounced variegation and thicker stems. With proper care, each new leaf unfurls as a surprise — showcasing unique marbling, sectoral white patches, or soft pink blushing that distinguishes it from other hybrids.
Green-only leaves: Insufficient light or natural reversion.
Brown tips: Low humidity or inconsistent watering.
Yellow leaves: Overwatering or cold exposure.
Pests: Occasionally mealybugs or thrips; treat promptly with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
Philodendron erubescens, native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia, is a climbing species known for its bold, glossy leaves and adaptability. The ‘White Princess’ cultivar was selectively bred for its white variegation, pink stems, and upright growth, making it a hybrid distinct from its relatives ‘White Knight’ and ‘White Wizard’.
Highly valued among collectors, it symbolises balance and refinement, representing purity (white), growth (green), and passion (pink). Like all Philodendrons, it also acts as a natural air purifier, filtering toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene while contributing to a calmer, healthier indoor atmosphere.
Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid harsh direct sun
Water: Keep soil lightly moist; allow top 2–3 cm to dry between watering
Temperature: 20–28 °C; avoid below 16 °C
Humidity: High (60–80%)
Soil: Airy, well-draining aroid mix – compost, bark, perlite, coco coir
Feed: Every 4–6 weeks in spring/summer
Growth: Upright, self-heading habit, 60–90 cm; glossy green leaves with white and pink variegation on pink-streaked stems
⚠️ Toxicity note: Contains calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if ingested. Keep away from pets and children.
Display Philodendron ‘White Princess’ in a white, pastel, or rose-toned planter to accentuate its creamy variegation and pink stems. Place it on a side table, console, or plant stand in bright, indirect light to showcase its elegance. It pairs beautifully with darker tropicals such as Philodendron ‘Rojo Congo’ or metallic-foliage species like Scindapsus treubii ‘Moonlight’. Perfect for living rooms, offices, or plant cabinets, ‘White Princess’ adds a touch of luxury, femininity, and refinement to any curated collection.
