Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Zamioculcas zamiifolia ‘Raven’, commonly known as the Black ZZ Plant, is a bold and dramatic cultivar of the classic ZZ Plant renowned for its striking, near-black foliage. A member of the Araceae family and native to the dry, shaded forests of Eastern Africa, this hardy tropical houseplant combines sculptural beauty with exceptional resilience — making it a favourite for both minimalist interiors and low-maintenance plant lovers.
Each new leaf emerges a bright, lime green before gradually maturing to a deep, glossy purple-black, creating a stunning contrast between old and new growth. The smooth, upright stems give the plant a sleek, modern silhouette that complements any décor style, from contemporary to industrial.
Unfussy, architectural, and virtually indestructible, Zamioculcas ‘Raven’ is the ultimate statement plant for low-light environments — a living sculpture that thrives on neglect while exuding effortless sophistication.
Tolerates a wide range of light conditions, from low to bright, indirect light. For the deepest black foliage, provide moderate to bright, filtered light. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can cause leaf scorch. It’s one of the best plants for offices, hallways, and lower-light areas.
Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings — ZZ Plants store moisture in their rhizomes and are very drought-tolerant. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems. In winter, water even less frequently. Always ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot.
Temperature: Thrives between 18–28 °C. It can tolerate short drops down to 15 °C but should be protected from cold drafts or frost.
Humidity: Average indoor humidity is ideal; no special humidity requirements. It adapts well to dry air typical of most indoor environments.
Use a well-draining soil mix — cactus or succulent compost blended with perlite or coarse sand works perfectly. The key is excellent drainage to prevent excess moisture around the roots. Repot every 2–3 years in spring to refresh the soil or when the plant becomes root-bound.
Feed every 6–8 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser. Avoid over-fertilising — Zamioculcas ‘Raven’ is a slow grower that requires minimal feeding. Stop fertilising in autumn and winter.
Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves at the base to maintain a tidy appearance. Wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and reveal their glossy finish. Rotate occasionally to promote even growth on all sides.
A slow-growing plant, Zamioculcas ‘Raven’ typically reaches 60–90 cm in height and width indoors. New shoots emerge bright green, gradually darkening over several weeks into their signature raven-black tone. It’s one of the most durable and forgiving plants, thriving with minimal attention.
Yellow leaves: Overwatering.
Wrinkled or drooping leaves: Prolonged underwatering.
Pale leaves: Insufficient light.
Pests: Rare, but can occasionally attract mealybugs — wipe with neem oil if necessary.
Native to the dry tropical regions of East Africa, Zamioculcas zamiifolia evolved to store water in its rhizomes, allowing it to thrive in extreme drought. The ‘Raven’ cultivar, introduced in recent years, has quickly gained global popularity for its dramatic dark foliage and near-indestructible temperament.
It’s also an excellent air purifier, helping to remove toxins such as xylene and toluene from indoor air. Symbolically, the ZZ Plant is associated with prosperity, endurance, and resilience — fitting for a plant that flourishes even in the most neglected environments.
