Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.
At Plants for all Seasons, we recognise the critical role our courier partners play in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of your plants. Alocasia longiloba ‘Silver’ is a stunning and elegant aroid prized for its elongated arrow-shaped leaves, cool-toned colouring, and beautifully contrasting silver veining. A member of the Araceae family and native to Southeast Asia, this cultivar showcases the classic longiloba silhouette but with a refined, shimmering twist.
The leaves are long, narrow, and deeply sagittate, with sharply defined lobes and a smooth, satin-like surface. Their colour ranges from deep blue-green to cool slate, overlaid with bold, metallic silver primary veins that highlight the angular, sculptural form of each leaf. The contrasting white to pale silver midrib creates a crisp, modern aesthetic, while the undersides often display soft purplish tones.
As the plant matures, it forms an upright rosette supported by mottled, slightly arching petioles that add further visual interest. Beautifully architectural and distinctly tropical, Alocasia longiloba ‘Silver’ is perfect for collectors who appreciate clean lines, refined foliage, and plants with a sophisticated presence.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. The silver veining becomes more pronounced with good light levels. Medium light is tolerated but may result in greener, less dramatic leaves. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist. Allow the top 2–3 cm to dry between waterings, but avoid letting the plant fully dry out. Reduce watering slightly during winter when growth slows.
Temperature: Prefers warm conditions of 18–26 °C. Avoid temperatures below 15 °C.
Humidity: High humidity (60–80%) helps maintain crisp edges, richer colour, and larger leaves. A humidifier or grouped planting is beneficial.
Use a rich, airy aroid mix — a blend of houseplant compost, perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir. Excellent drainage prevents root rot. Repot every 1–2 years in spring, increasing the pot size only slightly.
Feed every 2–3 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding during winter.
Remove older or yellowing leaves at the base to encourage fresh growth. Gently wipe the leaf surface to enhance the silver veining and gloss. Provide support if leaves become tall or arching.
A moderate grower that typically reaches 40–70 cm in height. Mature plants develop more sharply defined leaves with stronger silver contrast and a fuller rosette. Growth slows in cooler conditions.
Crispy edges: Low humidity or underwatering.
Yellowing leaves: Overwatering or compacted soil.
Soft stems/drooping: Cold temperatures or prolonged dryness.
Pests: Watch for spider mites and thrips on the narrow leaves.
Alocasia longiloba is an important species in aroid history, forming the basis of many popular hybrids — and the ‘Silver’ form showcases why. Its long, sculptural leaves bring elegance and drama without overwhelming a space. The cool-toned colour palette makes it perfect for modern interiors and collectors who enjoy foliage with defined veining and subtle metallic sheen.
This cultivar pairs beautifully with dark-themed plant collections, variegated foliage, and other sculptural aroids.
