Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Alocasia scalprum is a striking, sculptural aroid prized for its narrow, blade-like leaves and deep, dramatic contouring. Native to the tropical rainforests of the Philippines and part of the Araceae family, this species is instantly recognisable for its elongated, razor-shaped foliage — a feature that inspired its name, with scalprum meaning “small knife” or “blade.”
The leaves are a rich, dark jade green with a smooth, satin surface and pronounced, deeply sunken veins that give them a ribbed, almost armour-like appearance. Each leaf sits upright on slender yet sturdy petioles, forming a compact but commanding rosette. New leaves emerge lighter and gradually deepen as they mature, developing stronger texture and structure.
Elegant, unusual, and unapologetically bold, Alocasia scalprum is highly sought-after by collectors who appreciate distinctive silhouettes and dramatic foliage. Its sleek form makes it perfect for modern interiors, plant styling, and curated tropical plant arrangements.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Tolerates medium light but may grow more slowly and produce narrower leaves. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch or fade the deep green colouring.
Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist. Allow the top 2–3 cm to dry out between waterings. Avoid letting the plant sit in water, as Alocasia scalprum is sensitive to root rot. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature: Ideal range is 18–26 °C. Protect from cold draughts and avoid temperatures below 15 °C.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity (60–80%). Increased moisture helps maintain leaf strength and vibrancy. A humidifier or grouping with other plants is recommended.
Use a rich, airy, fast-draining aroid mix — houseplant compost combined with perlite, orchid bark, and a little coco coir works well. Repot every 1–2 years in spring into a pot only slightly larger than the current one.
Feed every 2–3 weeks during the active growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.
Remove any yellowing or older leaves to encourage new growth and maintain a clean silhouette. Wipe the leaves occasionally to enhance their natural gloss and emphasise their ribbed texture.
A moderate grower that typically reaches 30–50 cm in height. Mature specimens produce longer, more defined leaves with stronger structure. Growth may slow during cooler months.
Yellowing leaves: Usually a sign of overwatering or poor drainage.
Crispy edges: Low humidity or underwatering.
Drooping: Often linked to cold temperatures or insufficient light.
Pests: Watch for spider mites and thrips, which favour narrow-leaved Alocasias.
Alocasia scalprum is cherished for its sleek, architectural form and dramatic venation — traits that set it apart from more common Alocasia varieties. Its compact size and bold silhouette make it ideal for plant styling, adding contrast and structure to tropical collections or minimal interiors.
Collectors value this species for its distinctive leaf shape and the strong, sculptural lines that develop as it matures. Whether used as a focal point or paired with broader-leaved tropicals, it adds visual interest and a refined, modern aesthetic.
