Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Begonia ‘Aiai’ is a rare and enchanting foliage Begonia cherished for its soft, iridescent surface, delicate colouring, and compact understory form. Thought to originate from Southeast Asian rainforest habitats and part of the Begoniaceae family, this cultivar is especially admired for its velvety, shimmering leaves and elegant, miniature stature.
The leaves are oval to heart-shaped with a plush, velvety finish that catches the light with subtle metallic tones. Their colour ranges from cool silver-green to soft olive, often overlaid with darker central shading and finely etched venation. Many specimens display a gentle pearlescent glow, giving the foliage a living jewellery-like appearance. Stems are slender, lightly blushed, and contribute to the plant’s refined, delicate posture.
Compact, luminous, and effortlessly graceful, Begonia ‘Aiai’ brings understated luxury to terrariums, plant cabinets, and curated Begonia collections. Its restrained size and gentle hues make it ideal for close-up appreciation.
Prefers medium to bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can scorch the velvety leaf surface, while too little light may dull the iridescence and slow growth. Perfect for terrariums, cabinets, and softly lit rooms.
Keep the soil lightly moist, allowing the top 1–2 cm to dry before watering again. Avoid complete dryness and avoid waterlogging, both of which can cause stress. Use room-temperature filtered or rainwater to prevent spotting on delicate leaves.
Temperature: Thrives in warm, stable conditions of 18–26 °C. Avoid temperatures below 15 °C.
Humidity: Requires high humidity (70–90%) to maintain leaf quality and prevent crisping. Ideal for terrariums, vivariums, and greenhouse cabinets.
Use a lightweight, moisture-retentive but airy mix — peat-free compost blended with fine bark, coco coir, and perlite or pumice works well. Avoid dense, compact soil. Repot once per year into a shallow pot suited to its small root system.
Feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a weak, balanced liquid fertiliser. This species is sensitive, so dilute feedings are safest.
Remove older or damaged leaves to maintain a clean appearance. Pinch back lightly if stems stretch. Avoid wetting the leaf surface to prevent fungal spotting.
A small, slow-to-moderate grower that typically reaches 10–20 cm in height and spread. Forms a compact clump of iridescent leaves with increasing density over time.
Crispy edges: Low humidity or underwatering.
Leaf spotting: Often caused by water on leaves or stagnant air.
Yellowing: Overwatering or poorly draining substrate.
Pests: Monitor for fungus gnats and occasional mealybugs.
Begonia ‘Aiai’ is prized for its shimmering foliage and miniature charm, making it a perfect centrepiece for terrariums or jewel-plant arrangements. Its velvety, pearlescent leaves offer an elegant contrast to mosses, ferns, and other tropical understory plants.
Collectors value it for its gentle colours, rare availability, and the way its surface catches and reflects light. It’s an excellent choice for anyone curating a refined, delicate, or fairy-forest aesthetic.
