Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Lophophora fricii XL, often referred to as Fricii Peyote (spineless cactus), is a highly prized, slow-growing cactus celebrated for its soft, rounded form, muted blue-green tones, and elegant rib structure. A member of the Cactaceae family and native to the limestone-rich deserts of northern Mexico, this species is revered by collectors for its refined appearance and exceptional longevity.
The plant forms a low, button-like dome with broad, gently undulating ribs and a smooth, velvety epidermis dusted with a subtle glaucous bloom. Unlike many cacti, Lophophora fricii is completely spineless, giving it a calm, sculptural presence. XL specimens represent mature plants with fuller bodies, stronger rib definition, and greater character developed over many years of careful cultivation. In season, it produces delicate funnel-shaped flowers in shades of pale pink to rose, emerging from the crown like a soft halo.
Minimalist, serene, and deeply collectible, Lophophora fricii XL is a true connoisseur’s cactus — understated luxury shaped by time and patience.
Thrives in bright, indirect to lightly filtered sunlight. While it enjoys strong light to maintain compact growth and colour, avoid harsh midday sun, which can scorch the soft epidermis. A bright windowsill or lightly shaded greenhouse position is ideal.
Water very sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, then water lightly and ensure excellent drainage. Overwatering is the primary cause of rot. In winter dormancy, water rarely (every 6–8 weeks) or not at all if kept cool.
Temperature: Prefers warmth between 18–30 °C during the growing season. Can tolerate cooler temperatures down to around 8–10 °C if kept completely dry.
Humidity: Low humidity is essential. Provide good airflow and avoid damp conditions.
Use a very free-draining mineral cactus mix — pumice, coarse sand, grit, limestone chips, and a small amount of cactus compost work best. This mimics its natural alkaline habitat. Repot infrequently (every 3–4 years) in spring, as it dislikes root disturbance.
Feed lightly once or twice during spring and summer with a low-nitrogen cactus fertiliser, diluted well. Overfeeding can cause unnatural swelling and weaken the plant. Do not feed in autumn or winter.
No pruning required. Remove dried flowers if present and gently brush dust from the crown. Handle carefully — although spineless, the plant bruises easily.
An extremely slow-growing cactus. XL specimens typically measure 8–15 cm across and represent many years of growth. Mature plants may flower annually under good conditions, producing soft pink blooms that contrast beautifully with the blue-green body.
Rot: Almost always caused by excess water or poor drainage.
Sun scorch: Too much direct, intense sunlight.
Shrivelling: Extended drought during active growth (correct with light watering).
Pests: Rare, but occasionally mealybugs — treat promptly if detected.
Lophophora fricii is one of the most visually distinctive species in the Lophophora genus, valued for its broader ribs and more pronounced flower colours compared to Lophophora williamsii. Growing naturally in harsh, mineral soils, it has evolved to be resilient, slow, and long-lived.
Symbolically, it represents patience, calm, and balance — qualities reflected in its gentle form and unhurried growth. For collectors, XL specimens offer immediate visual impact without sacrificing the integrity of a naturally mature plant.
Light: Bright, indirect to filtered sun
Water: Allow soil to dry completely; water very sparingly
Temperature: 18–30 °C (down to 8–10 °C if dry)
Humidity: Low; excellent airflow required
Soil: Mineral cactus mix – pumice, grit, sand, limestone
Feed: Light feeding once or twice in spring/summer
Growth: 8–15 cm; slow-growing, spineless dome cactus with pink flowers
⚠️ Toxicity note: Non-toxic as a houseplant; handle gently to avoid bruising.
Display Lophophora fricii XL in a shallow ceramic or stone pot to emphasise its low, rounded silhouette. A top dressing of pale gravel or crushed limestone enhances its natural desert aesthetic. Perfect for minimalist interiors, cactus cabinets, or collector shelves, it pairs beautifully with other sculptural species such as Astrophytum asterias, Ariocarpus, or Obregonia denegrii.
