Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Calathea ‘Yellow Fusion’ is a rare and highly decorative prayer plant admired for its bold marbled variegation in lime, yellow and soft green, paired with the elegant leaf movement typical of Calatheas. It is a cultivar grown primarily for foliage impact and is considered more delicate than standard green varieties. Originating from tropical rainforest conditions, it thrives when warmth, humidity and consistency are prioritised.
Calathea ‘Yellow Fusion’ produces broad, elongated leaves with a painterly blend of yellow, chartreuse and green across the upper surface. Each leaf is uniquely patterned, giving the plant a striking, almost hand-painted appearance. The undersides are usually paler green rather than the deep purple seen on some other Calatheas, adding to its softer overall look.
Leaves grow from a compact, upright base and unfurl slowly, often moving gently throughout the day and folding slightly at night — a hallmark of prayer plants. Growth is moderate and controlled rather than fast, and the plant maintains a neat, clump-forming habit when conditions are right.
Because of its high variegation, ‘Yellow Fusion’ is less tolerant of stress than standard Calatheas and should be treated as a premium, care-sensitive houseplant.
Bright, indirect light is essential to maintain strong variegation without damaging the leaves. A position near an east-facing window or set back from a bright south- or west-facing window works well.
Direct sunlight should be avoided, as the pale variegated areas scorch easily. In lower light, the plant may survive but growth will slow and variegation can fade, becoming duller and greener over time.
Calathea ‘Yellow Fusion’ prefers consistently moist but never waterlogged compost. Allow the top couple of centimetres of the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings, then water thoroughly.
It is particularly sensitive to water quality. Wherever possible, use rainwater, distilled or filtered water, as tap water salts and fluoride can cause brown leaf edges and spotting.
Never allow the plant to dry out completely. Extended dryness can lead to leaf curl, crisp edges and long-term decline. At the same time, standing water around the roots will quickly cause root rot.
This plant thrives in warm, stable temperatures, ideally between 18–26°C. It is highly sensitive to cold, draughts and sudden temperature changes. Temperatures below 15°C can cause leaf damage and stress.
Humidity is critical. Calathea ‘Yellow Fusion’ requires consistently high humidity, ideally above 60%. Low humidity is the most common cause of browning edges, curling leaves and general decline. A humidifier is strongly recommended, especially during winter when indoor air is dry.
Good airflow is important, but avoid placing the plant near radiators, heaters or air-conditioning vents.
A moisture-retentive yet well-aerated growing medium is essential. The roots like consistent moisture but also require oxygen. A mix containing peat-free compost or coco coir, perlite, and a small amount of bark or horticultural grit works well.
Choose a pot with good drainage and avoid oversizing. Repot only when the plant is clearly root-bound, ideally in spring or early summer. Disturbing the roots too often can cause setbacks.
Feed lightly during the growing season. From spring to early autumn, apply a diluted balanced houseplant fertiliser every four to six weeks. Overfeeding can cause leaf burn, particularly on variegated areas.
Do not feed during winter, when growth slows and the plant becomes more sensitive to mineral build-up.
Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base using clean, sharp scissors. This helps the plant focus energy on healthy growth and keeps it looking tidy.
Regularly wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust, allowing the plant to photosynthesise efficiently. Avoid leaf shine products, which can clog pores and damage delicate foliage.
Calathea ‘Yellow Fusion’ is often considered challenging because it reacts quickly to environmental stress. Brown edges usually indicate low humidity or poor water quality. Curling leaves often point to dryness or temperature stress. Faded variegation is almost always linked to insufficient light.
Spider mites can occasionally be an issue in dry conditions, so maintaining humidity and inspecting leaves regularly is important.
Propagation is done by division, usually at repotting time. Each division should have its own healthy root system and multiple leaves. This plant does not propagate from cuttings.
Calathea ‘Yellow Fusion’ is a true statement plant, best suited to growers who can provide high humidity, consistent moisture and stable conditions. It is not forgiving of neglect, but when cared for correctly it rewards with exceptional foliage that stands out in any indoor plant collection.
