Ceropegia woodii, also known as the String of Hearts, is a popular trailing plant with delicate, heart-shaped leaves that are usually variegated. Here are some tips for caring for this plant:

  1. Light: The String of Hearts prefers bright, indirect light. It can also tolerate some direct sunlight, but avoid exposing it to intense afternoon sun as it can scorch the leaves.

  2. Watering: Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering. Water the plant deeply but less frequently, and ensure that excess water drains out of the bottom of the pot. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

  3. Humidity: The String of Hearts prefers a humid environment, but can tolerate lower humidity levels. You can mist the leaves regularly, place a tray of water near the plant, or use a humidifier to increase the humidity levels around the plant.

  4. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix that is rich in organic matter. The soil should be slightly moist but not waterlogged.

  5. Fertilizer: Feed the plant with a balanced fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce the frequency of feeding during the fall and winter.

  6. Pruning: You can prune the plant to shape it or to remove any dead or yellow leaves. The String of Hearts can also be propagated from stem cuttings.

  7. Temperature: The plant prefers warm temperatures between 60-85°F (15-29°C). Avoid exposing the plant to temperatures below 50°F (10°C) or to cold drafts.

The String of Hearts is a great trailing plant for hanging baskets, or can be trained to climb up a support. With proper care, it can grow up to several feet long and is a beautiful addition to any indoor garden.
