Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Hoya bella ‘Albomarginata’ is a refined, trailing Hoya prized for its delicate, arching growth, neatly variegated foliage, and abundant, starry white flowers. Unlike many thicker-leaved Hoyas, this variety has a softer, more elegant look, making it ideal for hanging baskets and elevated shelves where its cascading stems can be fully appreciated. It originates from mountainous regions of Southeast Asia, where it grows as an epiphyte in bright, humid conditions with excellent airflow.
This variety is instantly recognisable by its slender, lance-shaped leaves edged with clean, creamy-white margins. The central portion of each leaf is a soft to mid green, creating a crisp contrast that remains stable under good light. Leaves are thinner and more flexible than those of many Hoyas, giving the plant a light, graceful appearance rather than a chunky one.
Hoya bella ‘Albomarginata’ has a naturally pendulous growth habit. Stems arch and trail readily, producing dense curtains of foliage as the plant matures. It is less suited to climbing supports than many Hoyas and looks best when allowed to spill freely from a pot.
Flowering is one of its greatest strengths. Mature plants can flower frequently and generously, producing clusters of pure white, star-shaped blooms with a contrasting deep purple or maroon centre. The flowers are lightly fragrant, especially in the evening, and appear on short spurs that rebloom year after year if left intact.
Bright, indirect light is essential to maintain strong variegation and compact growth. An east-facing window is ideal, though a west-facing position can also work provided the plant is protected from harsh afternoon sun.
Gentle morning sun is beneficial and can encourage flowering, but prolonged direct sunlight can scorch the thinner leaves, particularly the pale margins. In lower light, growth becomes looser, variegation may dull slightly, and flowering will be reduced.
Hoya bella ‘Albomarginata’ prefers more consistent moisture than thicker-leaved Hoyas, but it should never sit in waterlogged compost. Allow the top layer of the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess moisture to drain away.
During spring and summer, watering will be fairly regular as the plant grows actively and flowers. In autumn and winter, reduce watering, but do not allow the plant to dry out completely for extended periods, as its finer roots are less tolerant of prolonged drought.
Yellowing leaves and soft stems usually indicate overwatering, while drooping or limp foliage can signal that the plant is too dry.
This Hoya thrives in warm, stable indoor temperatures, ideally between 18–26°C. It is less tolerant of cold than some Hoyas and should be protected from draughts, cold windows and unheated rooms. Temperatures below 12–13°C can cause leaf drop and general decline.
Humidity plays an important role in its overall health. Moderate to high humidity encourages lush growth and regular flowering. While it can adapt to average household conditions, it performs best when humidity remains above 50%. Good airflow is essential, particularly in higher humidity, to prevent fungal issues.
A light, free-draining growing medium is essential. In nature, Hoya bella grows with its roots exposed to air and brief moisture, so heavy composts should be avoided. A mix combining fine orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and a small amount of peat-free compost or coco coir works well.
Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the root ball. This species prefers to be gently root-bound and often flowers more readily when slightly restricted. Hanging pots are ideal and help showcase its natural growth habit.
Feed lightly but regularly during the growing season. From spring to late summer, apply a balanced houseplant fertiliser at half strength every four to six weeks. This supports continuous flowering and healthy foliage without encouraging weak growth.
Avoid feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.
Minimal pruning is needed. Trim only to remove damaged or overly long stems, ideally in spring or early summer. Never remove old flower spurs, as new blooms emerge from the same points.
Because of its trailing habit, occasional trimming can help maintain a fuller, more compact appearance if the plant becomes leggy.
Hoya bella ‘Albomarginata’ is known as a reliable bloomer once settled. Stability is crucial. Avoid moving the plant or changing its environment suddenly, especially when buds are forming, as this can cause bud drop.
Bright light, consistent watering, warm temperatures and moderate humidity all contribute to regular flowering. Unlike some Hoyas, this variety does not need to be heavily root-bound to bloom, but it does appreciate being left undisturbed.
Propagation is straightforward using stem cuttings with at least two nodes. Cuttings root readily in water or in a light, well-draining propagation mix. Warmth, humidity and bright indirect light will encourage quick rooting, often within a couple of weeks.
Hoya bella ‘Albomarginata’ is an elegant, floriferous Hoya that suits both collectors and confident beginners. Its finer foliage means it prefers slightly more consistent moisture and warmth than thicker-leaved Hoyas, but in return it offers graceful growth and frequent, charming flowers. Treated gently and kept stable, it becomes a long-lived, highly decorative houseplant.
