Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Hoya clemensiorum ‘Sumatra’ is one of the most coveted and visually striking Hoyas in cultivation, prized especially by collectors for its extraordinary leaf texture and dramatic veining. Native to the lush forests of Sumatra, this species belongs to the Apocynaceae family and is renowned for its slow-growing, sculptural foliage that looks almost carved.
Each leaf is long, elongated, and leathery with a deep green base and intense, raised venation running in bold, geometric patterns. The veins appear almost embossed, giving the plant a rugged, three-dimensional texture unlike any other Hoya. When mature, the leaves can reach impressive lengths, making this species a true showstopper in any collection.
Unlike many Hoyas with delicate vines, Hoya clemensiorum has a sturdy, upright growth habit when young, eventually developing into a trailing or climbing form when provided with support. Strong, architectural, and instantly recognisable, this Sumatra form is a must-have for Hoya enthusiasts and lovers of unusual foliage.
Thrives in bright, indirect light to maintain its deep colour and strong venation. Can tolerate some early morning or late afternoon sun, which helps encourage growth and flowering. Avoid harsh midday sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water moderately, allowing the top 4–5 cm of soil to dry out before watering again. As a semi-succulent Hoya, it prefers to dry slightly between waterings and is more tolerant of underwatering than overwatering. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature: Ideal range is 18–28 °C. Protect from cold draughts and avoid temperatures below 12 °C.
Humidity: Prefers higher humidity (60–80%), especially to support leaf development. Will tolerate average household humidity but thrives in warm, humid environments.
Use a very airy, fast-draining Hoya or aroid mix — a combination of orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and a small amount of compost works perfectly. Avoid heavy soils. Repot every 1–2 years but only into a slightly larger pot each time to prevent root rot.
Feed every 3–4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser or a formula designed for leafy growth. Switch to a bloom-boosting fertiliser if encouraging flowers.
Remove any old or damaged leaves at the base. Provide a moss pole, trellis, or hoop if you prefer vertical growth, or allow the plant to trail naturally. Wipe leaves gently to highlight the dramatic venation.
A slow-growing species that rewards patience. Mature leaves can reach 20–30 cm in length, creating an eye-catching display. Under good conditions, it may produce clusters of star-shaped Hoya blooms with a sweet fragrance.
Slow growth: Normal for this species; increases with warmth and bright light.
Leaf yellowing: Usually overwatering or poor drainage.
Thin, weak growth: Insufficient light.
Pests: Watch for mealybugs and spider mites on undersides of leaves.
Hoya clemensiorum is one of the most distinctive members of the genus, admired for its architectural foliage and strong tactile presence. Its leaves have a rugged, almost prehistoric appearance, making it a striking addition to curated plant displays and indoor jungles.
Collectors value this plant not just for its foliage, but also for its rarity and slow, rewarding growth habit. Its unique structure and standout texture make it ideal for minimalist interiors, sculptural plant arrangements, and any design scheme where bold foliage takes centre stage.
Light: Bright, indirect; some gentle sun tolerated
Water: Allow top 4–5 cm to dry; avoid overwatering
Temperature: 18–28 °C; avoid cold draughts
Humidity: Prefers high humidity
Soil: Airy, fast-draining Hoya/aroid mix
Feed: Every 3–4 weeks during growing season
Growth: Slow-growing; long, textured, veined leaves
Toxicity: Mildly toxic if ingested; keep away from pets and children
Showcase Hoya clemensiorum on a shelf or stand where its incredible venation is easily visible. A simple terracotta or matte black pot works beautifully to contrast the deep green foliage. Allow space for its long leaves to drape naturally, or train it upwards on a sculptural trellis to emphasise its architectural form.
