Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Hoya scortechinii ‘White’ is a refined, lesser-seen Hoya valued for its elegant foliage, neat vining habit and soft, pale flowers. Native to parts of Southeast Asia, Hoya scortechinii grows epiphytically in warm, humid forests, rooting into bark and debris rather than dense soil. The ‘White’ form is especially prized for its lighter-toned blooms and clean, understated look, making it a sophisticated choice for collectors who favour subtle beauty over bold contrast.
This Hoya produces medium-sized, elongated leaves that are smooth, slightly leathery and gently tapered at the tip. The foliage is typically mid to deep green with a soft sheen rather than a high gloss, giving the plant a calm, refined appearance. Leaves are carried in opposing pairs along slender but sturdy stems.
Hoya scortechinii ‘White’ has a graceful trailing and climbing growth habit. It is well suited to hanging pots, shelves, or being trained around a hoop or small trellis. Growth is usually steady rather than fast, allowing the plant to maintain a tidy, well-balanced form as it matures.
When mature and well settled, the plant produces delicate umbels of pale, waxy flowers, typically creamy white to soft ivory, sometimes with a faintly contrasting centre. The flowers have the classic Hoya waxy texture and may release a gentle, sweet fragrance. As with all Hoyas, blooms form on persistent spurs that should be preserved for future flowering.
Bright, indirect light is ideal. An east- or west-facing window provides excellent conditions, offering plenty of light without the risk of leaf scorch. Gentle morning or late-afternoon sun can be beneficial and may encourage flowering.
Avoid prolonged exposure to strong midday sun, particularly through south-facing glass. In low light, the plant will survive but growth will slow, internodes will lengthen and flowering is unlikely.
Hoya scortechinii ‘White’ prefers a measured, conservative watering routine. Allow the top layer of the growing medium to dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly, ensuring excess moisture drains away completely.
During spring and summer, watering will be more regular as the plant actively grows. In autumn and winter, reduce watering significantly to prevent root issues. The plant’s semi-succulent leaves store moisture, making it more tolerant of brief dryness than constant damp conditions.
Soft, yellowing leaves or a persistently wet pot indicate overwatering, while slight leaf wrinkling suggests the plant is ready for a drink.
This species thrives in warm, stable temperatures, ideally between 18–27°C. It is sensitive to cold and should be kept away from draughts, cold windows and unheated rooms in winter. Temperatures below 12°C can cause stress and leaf drop.
Moderate to high humidity supports healthier growth and more reliable flowering. While it can adapt to average household humidity, it performs best when humidity remains above 50%. As always, good airflow is important to prevent fungal problems.
A very free-draining, airy growing medium is essential. In nature, this Hoya’s roots dry quickly between rainfalls, and the same conditions should be replicated indoors. A chunky mix of orchid bark, perlite or pumice, with a small amount of peat-free compost or coco coir, works well.
Choose a pot that fits the root ball comfortably rather than oversizing. Hoyas generally prefer to be slightly root-bound, and frequent repotting can delay flowering. Terracotta pots are particularly useful for moisture control.
Feed lightly during the growing season. From spring through late summer, apply a balanced houseplant fertiliser at half strength every four to six weeks. This supports steady growth and flower development without encouraging weak or excessive foliage.
Stop feeding during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.
Minimal pruning is required. Remove only damaged or weak growth, and shape lightly if needed during the active growing season. Never remove old flower spurs, as these are reused for future blooms.
Training the vines around a hoop or trellis helps maintain a neat appearance and showcases the plant’s natural form, particularly when flowering.
Flowering usually occurs once the plant is mature and fully settled. Stability is key. Avoid moving the plant or changing conditions abruptly when buds appear, as Hoyas are prone to bud drop if stressed.
Bright indirect light, warmth, consistent watering and a slightly root-bound pot all improve the likelihood of flowering. Patience is essential, as this species prioritises steady vegetative growth before blooming.
Propagation is best done using stem cuttings with at least two nodes. Cuttings can be rooted in water or in a well-draining propagation mix. Warmth, humidity and bright indirect light encourage rooting, which typically occurs within a few weeks.
Hoya scortechinii ‘White’ is an elegant, understated Hoya that rewards calm, consistent care. It is not demanding, but it does require excellent drainage, stable warmth and patience. Given time, it becomes a graceful, long-lived plant with charming, pale blooms that stand out through their simplicity rather than bold colour.
