Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Mimosa pudica, commonly known as the Sensitive Plant, Touch-Me-Not, or Humble Plant, is a fascinating and interactive species celebrated for its rapid leaf-folding movement and delicate, fern-like appearance. A member of the Fabaceae (legume) family and native to tropical regions of Central and South America, this plant has captivated growers for centuries with its unusual behaviour and dainty charm.
Its leaves are finely divided, feather-like leaflets arranged along slender stems, giving it a soft, airy texture. When touched, shaken, or exposed to sudden changes in temperature or light, the leaflets react instantly — folding inward and drooping as though the plant is “falling asleep.” This rapid movement (thigmonasty) is both protective and mesmerizing, making Mimosa pudica a favourite among children, terrarium enthusiasts, and collectors of interactive plants.
In warm, bright conditions, the plant produces small, spherical puffball flowers in soft shades of pink or lilac, resembling miniature pom-poms. Delicate, kinetic, and irresistibly engaging, Mimosa pudica is truly one of nature’s most enchanting curiosities.
Thrives in bright, indirect light or filtered sun. A few hours of gentle morning sunlight encourage strong growth and flowering. Too little light causes leggy stems and sluggish leaf responses. Avoid harsh midday sun, which can scorch the fine leaflets.
Keep the soil consistently moist, allowing only the very top layer (0.5–1 cm) to dry between waterings. Mimosa pudica is sensitive to drought and will wilt quickly if left too dry. However, it dislikes soggy soil, so ensure excellent drainage.
Temperature: Prefers warm conditions between 20–28 °C. Sensitive to cold; growth slows below 18 °C and can be damaged below 15 °C.
Humidity: Appreciates moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Avoid overly dry air which can cause browning or reduced movement.
Use a light, well-draining mix. Ideal components include peat-free compost or coco coir, perlite, and a small amount of fine bark. The plant grows quickly and may need repotting every 6–12 months. It is short-lived and often grown as an annual.
Feed every 2–4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, diluted fertiliser. Avoid heavy feeding as this species prefers mild nutrition.
Prune lightly to maintain a compact shape. Remove old or dry stems. Limit frequent touching — although fun, too much stimulation can stress the plant and slow its recovery.
A fast-growing species that typically reaches 20–50 cm in height. Often behaves as a short-lived perennial or annual, with vigorous growth during warm months and natural decline after flowering.
Leaf non-response: Caused by fatigue from excessive touching or insufficient light.
Drooping/wilting: Underwatering or cold temperatures.
Yellowing leaves: Overwatering or poor soil drainage.
Pests: May attract aphids, spider mites, and mealybugs.
Mimosa pudica has fascinated botanists, gardeners, and even philosophers for centuries. Its rapid movement responses make it an excellent educational plant, introducing children and adults alike to plant behaviour and plant physiology.
Beyond its novelty, it also features in traditional medicine in various cultures and is valued for its fast growth and delicate ornamental beauty.
Its interactive nature makes it a centrepiece in terrariums, children’s rooms, plant classrooms, and botanical displays.
