Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. Hoya verticillata ‘Lampung’ is a rare locality form of Hoya verticillata, collected from the Lampung region of Sumatra, Indonesia. Hoyas from different localities often show subtle variations in leaf shape, texture, and flower colour, making them highly desirable to collectors of rare species and location-specific forms.
This variety is admired for its elongated, lance-shaped leaves, often dark green with striking silver flecks across the surface. The leaves are thick and leathery, with prominent veining that adds texture and depth. Its strong vining habit makes it suitable for both hanging baskets and trellises, where the foliage can be displayed to full effect.
When mature, Hoya verticillata ‘Lampung’ produces umbels of star-shaped flowers. The blooms are usually white to creamy-pink with a darker pink to red corona, highly fragrant, and long-lasting. Its combination of speckled foliage and scented flowers makes it a standout addition to any Hoya collection.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Some morning or evening sun will enhance silver flecking and promote flowering, but harsh midday sun can scorch the leaves.
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. This Hoya prefers slightly more consistent moisture than some succulent-leaved types, but the soil must still drain freely. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature: Prefers 18–28°C. Protect from draughts and keep above 15°C.
Humidity: Benefits from moderate to high humidity (60–80%). Average household humidity is tolerated, but higher levels encourage healthier growth and blooms.
Use a chunky, free-draining epiphytic mix such as orchid bark, perlite, coco husk, and a little peat-free compost. Repot every 2–3 years as Hoyas enjoy being slightly root-bound.
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a high-potassium fertiliser to promote flowering. No feeding is needed in winter.
Trim vines to manage growth and encourage branching. Do not remove peduncles (flower spurs), as the plant will rebloom from the same sites.
A moderately fast grower with trailing or climbing vines that can reach 1–2 metres indoors. Flowers appear once the plant is mature and growing in stable, bright conditions.
No blooms: Often caused by insufficient light or removing peduncles.
Yellow leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage.
Shrivelling leaves: Prolonged underwatering.
Pests: Can be prone to mealybugs, aphids, or spider mites.
Hoya verticillata is widely distributed across Southeast Asia, and locality forms like ‘Lampung’ are especially prized for their subtle differences in foliage and flowers. This makes them fascinating additions for serious Hoya collectors looking to expand beyond the common species.
