Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. Spathiphyllum, commonly known as the Peace Lily, is one of the most iconic and enduring houseplants, prized for its lush green foliage and elegant white flowers that symbolise calm, purity, and renewal. A member of the Araceae family and native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, this graceful plant brings both serenity and sophistication to any indoor space.
Its glossy, dark-green leaves grow densely from the base, creating a lush, tropical mound. The signature white “flowers” — actually modified leaves called spathes — rise elegantly above the foliage, each surrounding a slender cream-coloured spadix. Blooming several times a year under the right conditions, the Peace Lily brightens interiors while purifying the air.
Classic, calming, and effortlessly elegant, the Spathiphyllum is a timeless choice for homes, offices, and reception areas, offering beauty, balance, and tranquillity.
Thrives in bright, indirect light but adapts well to lower light levels, making it perfect for shaded rooms. However, it will flower more profusely in moderate to bright, filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry, using room-temperature water. Peace Lilies are sensitive to fluoride and chlorine in tap water, so filtered or rainwater is best. The leaves will droop slightly when the plant needs water — a helpful natural indicator.
Temperature: Prefers warmth between 18–28 °C. Avoid drafts, radiators, and cold air, as temperatures below 15 °C can cause leaf damage.
Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Mist the leaves occasionally, especially during winter or when using indoor heating, to keep them glossy and healthy.
Use a rich, well-draining, peat-free potting mix. A blend of compost, perlite, and coco coir ensures the right balance of moisture and aeration. Repot every 1–2 years in spring to refresh the soil and promote continued growth.
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser. Avoid over-fertilising, which can lead to brown leaf tips. Pause feeding in autumn and winter when growth slows.
Remove any yellow or brown leaves and spent blooms at the base to encourage fresh growth. Wipe the leaves occasionally with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and enhance their natural shine. Rotate the plant regularly for even growth.
A moderate grower, the Peace Lily typically reaches 40–80 cm in height and width indoors. With proper care, it produces regular flushes of white blooms, often from spring through autumn, each lasting several weeks.
Brown tips: Caused by low humidity, over-fertilising, or fluoride in tap water.
Yellowing leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage.
No flowers: Insufficient light or lack of feeding.
Pests: Occasionally affected by spider mites or mealybugs — treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
Native to tropical rainforests where it grows in shaded, humid environments, Spathiphyllum has adapted beautifully to indoor living. Its name derives from the Greek spathi (spoon) and phyllon (leaf), referring to its distinctive spathe-shaped blooms.
The Peace Lily is renowned for its air-purifying properties — NASA’s Clean Air Study identified it as one of the top houseplants for removing common toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide. Symbolically, it represents peace, healing, and hope, making it a thoughtful gift for both joyful and reflective occasions.
