Agave 'Peace Revolution' is a stunning succulent known for its striking form and low maintenance requirements. This variety features rosettes of thick, fleshy leaves with unique coloration and patterns, making it a standout in any collection of succulents or outdoor garden. Here are some general characteristics of Agave 'Peace Revolution':

  • Foliage: The leaves are thick, fleshy, and typically form a tight rosette. They are blue-green with a smooth texture and may have subtle variegation or marginal spines.
  • Growth Habit: This plant grows in a rosette pattern, with new leaves emerging from the center. It has a symmetrical and architectural appearance.
  • Size: Agave 'Peace Revolution' can reach a height and width of approximately 30-60 cm (12-24 inches), though size can vary depending on growing conditions.

Care Guide

  1. Light:

    • Full Sun: Prefers full sun to partial shade. At least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day is ideal for optimal growth and coloration.
    • Bright Indoor Light: If grown indoors, place it in a bright location, such as near a south-facing window.
  2. Watering:

    • Low Water: Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, a common issue with succulents.
    • Drought Tolerant: This plant is drought-tolerant once established, making it suitable for xeriscaping and low-water gardens.
  3. Temperature:

    • Warm: Thrives in warm temperatures, ideally between 18-29°C (65-85°F). It can tolerate temperatures down to about 10°C (50°F), but protect it from frost and freezing temperatures.
    • Hardiness: Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 9-11.
  4. Soil:

    • Well-Draining: Use a well-draining soil mix designed for cacti and succulents. A mix of sand, perlite, and potting soil works well.
    • Avoid Heavy Soils: Heavy, water-retentive soils can lead to root rot. Ensure good drainage in pots and garden beds.
  5. Fertilising:

    • Minimal Fertilisation: Feed sparingly with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser diluted to half strength during the growing season (spring and summer). Fertilising once a month is usually sufficient.
    • Avoid Over-Fertilising: Excessive fertilisation can cause leggy growth and reduce the plant's resilience.
  6. Pruning:

    • Minimal Pruning: Pruning is generally not necessary. Remove any dead or damaged leaves to maintain appearance and health.
    • Cleaning: Wipe the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and enhance their appearance.
  7. Repotting:

    • Every 2-3 Years: Repot the plant every 2-3 years or when it becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one to allow for growth.
    • Fresh Soil: Use fresh, well-draining soil when repotting to ensure continued health.
  8. Pests:

    • Common Pests: Monitor for common pests such as mealybugs and scale. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
    • Good Air Circulation: Ensure good air circulation around the plant to prevent fungal infections.
  9. Propagation:

    • Offsets: Agave 'Peace Revolution' can be propagated through offsets (pups) that grow at the base of the mother plant. Carefully remove the offsets and plant them in a well-draining soil mix.
    • Seed: Propagation from seed is also possible but less common and slower.

Conclusion

Agave 'Peace Revolution' is a striking and relatively easy-to-care-for succulent, perfect for adding a touch of architectural beauty to your indoor or outdoor spaces. With the right care and conditions, you can enjoy its unique rosette form and vibrant foliage year-round.
