Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. Hoya archboldiana is a spectacular tropical species admired for its large, trumpet-shaped flowers and glossy, emerald-green foliage. Native to Papua New Guinea, this impressive Hoya is one of the most striking bloomers in the genus, producing oversized flowers that resemble delicate porcelain bells.
The leaves are thick, smooth, and dark green, forming a lush backdrop for its show-stopping inflorescences. When mature, Hoya archboldiana produces clusters of wax-like flowers up to 5 cm wide, in shades of deep pink, red, or creamy white depending on the cultivar. Each bloom has a glossy, translucent surface and emits a light, sweet fragrance — especially in the evening.
Elegant, bold, and highly rewarding, Hoya archboldiana is a true statement plant for collectors, combining tropical vigour with floral artistry.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. A few hours of soft morning or late-afternoon sun encourage flowering and maintain glossy foliage. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves, and low light, which may reduce blooming.
Allow the top 3–4 cm of soil to dry before watering. Hoya archboldiana prefers evenly moist but well-draining soil. Overwatering can cause root rot, while long dry periods may lead to wrinkled leaves and reduced flowering. During winter, water sparingly.
Temperature: Prefers 20–30°C. Avoid exposure below 15°C and protect from cold draughts.
Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity (60–80%), though it tolerates typical indoor levels. Use a humidifier or pebble tray to enhance flowering potential and keep foliage healthy.
Use a loose, airy, and free-draining mix such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir, or a Hoya-specific substrate. This allows airflow and prevents compact, waterlogged conditions. Terracotta pots are ideal for moisture control. Repot every 2–3 years in spring when the plant becomes root-bound or growth slows.
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser or a bloom-promoting formula high in phosphorus. Fertilise lightly to avoid salt build-up and leaf burn. Suspend feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.
Prune after flowering to shape the plant and encourage branching. Never remove the peduncles (flower spurs) — new blooms will reappear from these each season. Wipe the leaves occasionally with a soft, damp cloth to keep them clean and enhance their glossy finish.
A moderate to fast-growing climber, typically reaching 1.5–2 metres in length when given support. Mature plants bloom profusely under bright light and consistent care, producing long-lasting, fragrant flowers throughout the growing season.
Yellowing leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage.
No flowers: Insufficient light or removal of peduncles.
Wrinkled leaves: Underwatering or low humidity.
Pests: Occasionally mealybugs or thrips; treat promptly with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
Discovered in the lowland rainforests of Papua New Guinea, Hoya archboldiana was named after the explorer Richard Archbold, who led the expedition that first documented the species. In its natural habitat, it grows as an epiphyte, clinging to trees in bright, filtered light and warm, humid air.
The plant’s large, waxy flowers have made it a favourite among Hoya collectors and florally inclined enthusiasts alike. Its combination of spectacular blooms and easy temperament make it a perfect choice for those seeking a dramatic yet manageable tropical species. Like other Hoyas, it also purifies the air, contributing to a fresh and tranquil indoor environment.
Light: Bright, indirect light; soft morning sun preferred
Water: Let top 3–4 cm of soil dry before watering
Temperature: 20–30°C; avoid below 15°C
Humidity: Moderate to high (60–80%)
Soil: Airy, free-draining mix – bark, perlite, coco coir
Feed: Every 4–6 weeks in spring/summer

⚠️ Toxicity note: Contains mild latex sap that may irritate skin and is toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
Display Hoya archboldiana on a trellis or moss pole to support its vining habit and showcase its stunning floral clusters. For a dramatic display, let it trail from a hanging basket where the bell-shaped blooms can dangle freely. Its glossy foliage and richly coloured flowers pair beautifully with silver-toned Hoyas such as Hoya sigillatis or Hoya krohniana ‘Silver’ for a sophisticated, high-contrast tropical arrangement.
