Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. Sansevieria ‘Ehrendale’ is a rare and elegant cultivar of the Sansevieria group (reclassified as Dracaena), prized for its upright form and striking variegation. Native to Africa and Asia, Sansevierias are renowned for their toughness and sculptural qualities, making them enduringly popular houseplants.
The ‘Ehrendale’ variety is especially decorative. It produces tall, sword-shaped leaves with a rich green base overlaid with irregular bands and streaks of creamy white, yellow, and grey-green variegation. The contrast of vertical striping and marbled patterns gives each leaf a unique appearance. Over time, clumps of upright leaves form, creating a bold architectural display.
Unlike some compact Sansevieria cultivars, ‘Ehrendale’ can grow up to 60–80 cm tall indoors, making it an excellent statement plant for floor displays or large pots.
Adapts to a wide range of conditions. Thrives in bright, indirect light, which enhances variegation, but also tolerates medium and even low light levels. Avoid strong direct sun, which can scorch pale variegated areas.
Extremely drought tolerant. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In summer, watering every 2–3 weeks is usually enough; in winter, reduce to monthly or less. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems.
Temperature: Prefers 18–28°C. Can tolerate occasional dips to 10°C but should be protected from prolonged cold.
Humidity: Very tolerant of dry indoor air – thrives in centrally heated homes.
Plant in a gritty, free-draining cactus or succulent compost. Repot only when rootbound, typically every 2–3 years, as Sansevierias prefer slightly crowded pots.
Feed once a month in spring and summer with a diluted cactus or succulent fertiliser. No feeding is required in winter.
Remove any damaged or yellowing leaves at the base. Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to maintain their natural sheen and showcase the variegation.
A slow to moderate grower. Over time, produces offsets that can be divided to create new plants. Mature clumps can reach 60–80 cm in height. Rarely, mature plants may produce tall flower spikes with small, fragrant white-green blooms.
Yellow or mushy leaves: Almost always due to overwatering.
Wrinkling: A sign of prolonged drought.
Pests: Rare, but can occasionally attract mealybugs or spider mites.
Sansevierias are among the most durable and low-maintenance houseplants available, recommended for both beginners and experienced growers. They are also valued for their air-purifying qualities – NASA studies have highlighted their ability to filter indoor toxins. The ‘Ehrendale’ cultivar is particularly admired for its decorative variegation and upright form, bringing both resilience and beauty to interiors.
