Description:

Potamogeton perfoliatus has long, slender stems that can reach lengths of up to 1 meter (3 feet). The leaves are arranged opposite each other on the stem and appear to be wrapped around the stem, giving the impression that the stem passes through the leaf. The leaves are lanceolate or oblong in shape, typically measuring around 3-10 cm (1-4 inches) in length. The colour of the leaves can range from bright green to reddish-brown, depending on the lighting and nutrient conditions. The plant may produce small, inconspicuous flowers on spikes that emerge above the water's surface.

Care Guide:

Lighting: Potamogeton perfoliatus requires moderate to high lighting conditions for optimal growth. Provide at least 2-3 watts per gallon of full-spectrum light to promote healthy growth.
