The Promo Twin Pack of Orchid Phalaenopsis in Mixed Colours is a wonderful option for orchid enthusiasts or those new to orchid care, offering a delightful surprise of two randomly selected Phalaenopsis orchids in varying colors. Phalaenopsis orchids, commonly known as "Moth Orchids," are among the most popular orchids in the trade, praised for their beauty, long-lasting flowers, and relatively easy care. Here’s a detailed description and care guide for a twin pack of Phalaenopsis orchids:

Description

Each pack includes two Phalaenopsis orchids, which may vary in color. Typical colors include white, pink, purple, and sometimes yellow or multi-colored varieties. These orchids have broad, glossy green leaves that grow from a central rosette. The flowers are displayed on arching stems above the foliage and can last several weeks, or even months, under the right conditions. Each flower resembles a moth in flight, hence the name.

Care Guide

Light

Phalaenopsis orchids prefer bright, indirect light. They can tolerate low light conditions, which may reduce blooming. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the leaves. A north or east-facing window is typically ideal.

Water

Water these orchids about once a week during active growth. Allow the top inch of the potting medium to dry out slightly before watering again. These orchids prefer to be slightly on the drier side rather than waterlogged. Overwatering can lead to root rot, which is one of the most common issues with orchids.

Soil

Phalaenopsis orchids require a special orchid mix, which is typically composed of bark, perlite, and charcoal. This mix ensures proper drainage and air flow to the roots, crucial for their health.

Temperature and Humidity

These orchids thrive in warm conditions, preferring temperatures between 18 to 29 degrees Celsius during the day and no lower than 16 degrees Celsius at night. They enjoy high humidity levels, ideally between 50% and 70%. Increasing humidity can be achieved by placing a humidity tray under the plant, using a humidifier, or placing the orchid in a naturally humid area like a kitchen or bathroom.

Fertiliser

Feed your orchids with a balanced orchid fertilizer every other week during active growth. Reduce to once a month during the dormant period, and always follow the instructions on the fertilizer package. It's generally recommended to use a "weakly, weekly" approach, diluting the fertilizer to a quarter of the strength recommended on the package.

Repotting

Phalaenopsis orchids should be repotted every 1 to 2 years or when the potting medium starts to break down. Repotting is best done after the flowering period has ended. Use fresh orchid mix and a pot that accommodates the plant’s root system without being excessively large.

Blooming

After the flowers fall, you can encourage reblooming by cutting the flower spike above the second or third node from the base. In some cases, the plant may produce a secondary spike from these nodes. Alternatively, removing the spike entirely will allow the plant to focus energy on root and leaf development.

Phalaenopsis orchids in a Promo Twin Pack offer a beautiful and intriguing way to enjoy these exotic plants at home. With proper care, these orchids can provide long-lasting blooms and a touch of elegance to any indoor setting.
