Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.
At Plants for all Seasons, we recognise the critical role our courier partners play in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of your plants. We collaborate exclusively with leading courier services, renowned for their reliability and exceptional handling practices, to ensure your plants arrive in perfect condition. Alocasia Longiloba Silver Crown
Alocasia Longiloba Silver Crown is an elegant tropical houseplant admired for its elongated, arrow-shaped leaves and cool, silvery colouring. Clearly defined veins add contrast across the leaf surface, while pointed tips and pronounced basal lobes create a distinctive outline. Its metallic tones make it a striking addition to a collection of green foliage plants.
The leaves rise on individual stalks, giving the plant an upright, open shape. Display it where the foliage has room to spread, allowing each leaf’s proportions and markings to stand out. Its narrow silhouette works particularly well alongside plants with broad, rounded leaves.
Sold under the name Alocasia longiloba ‘Silver Crown’, this collector’s plant benefits from the same consistent warmth, filtered light and careful moisture management used for other Longiloba forms. Leaf shape and colouring can vary with maturity and growing conditions.
Light
Provide bright, indirect light. A position near an east-facing window or a brighter window screened by a sheer curtain is a useful starting point.
Protect the foliage from harsh direct sunshine, which can scorch the leaves. Insufficient light can slow growth and encourage elongated leaf stalks.
Watering
Allow the upper layer of compost to dry before watering again, while retaining some moisture deeper around the roots. Adjust how far you check to the pot’s depth: a small nursery pot dries differently from a large, established container.
Water thoroughly, let excess water drain and empty the saucer or decorative outer pot. Avoid leaving the root ball saturated or allowing it to dry completely for prolonged periods.
Check moisture before each watering rather than following a fixed weekly schedule.
Humidity
Provide moderate to high humidity. A humidifier can help maintain consistent conditions in a dry home, particularly during the central-heating season.
Keep the plant away from radiators and maintain gentle airflow around the leaves. Humid air is helpful, but foliage should not remain continually wet.
Temperature
A warm position around 18–27°C is a practical indoor target. Protect the plant from cold draughts, chilly windows and sudden temperature changes.
Take particular care with watering in cooler conditions, when the growing medium dries more slowly.
Potting mix
Use a loose, moisture-retentive but freely draining mix. Peat-free houseplant compost amended with fine orchid bark and perlite is a practical option.
The mix should hold enough moisture for the roots without becoming dense or waterlogged. Always choose a container with drainage holes.
Feeding
Apply a liquid houseplant fertiliser during active spring and summer growth, following the product’s dilution and frequency instructions.
Reduce or pause feeding when leaf production slows. Extra fertiliser will not resolve problems caused by insufficient light, cold conditions or unhealthy roots.
Repotting
Check the roots in spring and repot when they have become crowded. Move up one pot size and refresh the growing medium, keeping the plant at a similar planting depth.
Avoid placing a small root system in an oversized container, where unused compost can remain wet for too long.
Routine maintenance
Remove fully dead leaves using clean scissors, taking care around developing growth. Retain healthy foliage while new leaves establish.
Inspect beneath the leaves and around stalk bases for spider mites, mealybugs and aphids. Isolate affected plants promptly to help prevent pests spreading.
Common problems
Yellowing leaves: Check for excessive moisture, drought or inadequate light.
Brown edges: Review humidity and watering consistency.
Fine webbing or pale speckling: Inspect carefully for spider mites.
Soft roots or a deteriorating base: Investigate possible rot.
One older leaf declining: This can occur as foliage ages; check the overall plant before changing care.
Symptoms can overlap, so inspect the growing medium and roots before adding more water or fertiliser.
Propagation
Propagate by separating rooted offsets or growing the small corms sometimes produced around established plants. Spring and early summer are suitable times.
Provide warmth, indirect light and a lightly moist, airy medium while new plants establish.
Winter care
Growth may slow during darker months, and some leaves may die back. Reduce watering to match the plant’s lower demand and pause feeding if growth stops.
A firm, healthy underground stem may produce fresh growth when conditions improve. Avoid keeping a resting plant saturated, and investigate any soft or deteriorating tissue.
Pet and child safety
Alocasias contain calcium oxalate crystals and are harmful if chewed or swallowed. Keep Silver Crown away from children and pets. Wear gloves when pruning or dividing, as the sap can irritate skin and eyes.
