Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Alocasia Nebula Imperialis
Alocasia Nebula Imperialis is a striking jewel Alocasia admired for its silvery colouring, dark veins and richly textured foliage. Its thick leaves combine shades of grey-green and blue-green, with darker markings creating an intricate pattern across the surface. Deep reddish-purple undersides add another layer of colour, making this a plant to appreciate from every angle.
New leaves emerge lighter before developing their mature colouring. The sculpted surface and contrasting veins give the foliage an almost metallic appearance, making it a beautiful focal point among greener houseplants. Its compact, upright growth suits a bright plant shelf or a carefully managed growing cabinet.
The species, Alocasia nebula, originates from Sarawak in Borneo. Commonly sold under the trade name Nebula Imperialis, it rewards attentive care, particularly consistent warmth, humidity and careful watering. It is best suited to growers who can provide stable conditions and check its needs regularly.
Light
Provide bright, filtered light, protecting the foliage from strong direct sunshine. A bright window softened by a sheer curtain is a suitable starting point. Avoid deep shade, which can slow growth.
Introduce changes in light gradually, particularly when moving the plant from a growing cabinet to a windowsill.
Watering
Water when approximately the top 2–3cm of potting mix has dried, adjusting for pot size and growing conditions. Keep some moisture deeper around the roots without leaving the compost saturated.
Water thoroughly, allow excess water to drain and empty the saucer or decorative outer pot. Avoid letting the entire root ball become completely dry, as drought can trigger leaf loss or dormancy. Check the compost rather than watering on a fixed schedule.
Humidity
Aim for around 60–80% relative humidity, with gentle airflow. A humidifier or ventilated growing cabinet can help maintain consistent conditions in a dry home.
Misting provides only a brief change in moisture around the leaves and cannot replace sustained humidity. Avoid keeping the foliage continually wet.
Temperature
Keep your plant comfortably warm, ideally around 18–28°C, and avoid prolonged temperatures below 15°C. Protect it from cold windows, draughts and sudden temperature changes.
Take particular care with watering in cooler conditions: cold, wet roots can lead to rapid decline.
Potting mix
Use an airy mix that holds some moisture while draining freely. A blend of peat-free houseplant compost, perlite and fine orchid bark is a practical option.
Always choose a pot with drainage holes. Even an airy mix can remain too wet if the container is oversized or left standing in water.
Feeding
Apply a complete liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively producing leaves, following the product’s dilution and frequency instructions. Reduce or pause feeding when growth slows.
If warmth and suitable lighting keep it growing through winter, feeding can continue at an appropriate rate.
Repotting
Repot when roots have filled the current container, preferably during spring or early summer. Move up only one pot size and refresh the growing medium. Avoid unnecessary disturbance to a plant that still has room for healthy root growth.
Winter care
Growth may slow and some leaves may be lost as light levels fall. Keep the plant warm, reduce watering to match its lower demand and pause feeding if growth stops.
Check the roots and underground stem if decline is sudden. Firm tissue may recover, whereas soft, deteriorating tissue can indicate rot.
Common problems
Yellowing leaves: Check for excessive moisture, drought or insufficient light.
Brown edges: Review humidity and watering.
Bleached or scorched patches: Protect the plant from strong sunshine.
Fine webbing or pale speckling: Inspect leaf undersides for spider mites.
Sudden collapse: Check promptly for cold damage and root rot.
Alocasias can also attract mealybugs and aphids, so inspect regularly and isolate affected plants.
Propagation
Propagate by separating rooted offsets or growing the small corms produced around established plants. Keep them warm in a lightly moist, airy medium. Corms can take time to sprout, so remain patient while they are firm and healthy.
Pet and child safety
This plant contains calcium oxalate crystals and is harmful if chewed or swallowed. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Wear gloves when dividing or pruning, as damaged tissue can release sap that irritates skin and eyes.
