Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.
At Plants for all Seasons, we recognise the critical role our courier partners play in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of your plants. Alocasia ‘Sulawesi Green Carpet’ is a rare and enchanting miniature aroid prized for its compact size, lush texture, and velvety deep-green foliage. Originating from the humid forest floors of Sulawesi and belonging to the Araceae family, this cultivar is admired for its low-growing, carpet-like growth habit and jewel-toned leaves that add a rich, tropical depth to any collection.
The leaves are small, heart-shaped, and deeply coloured — typically a dark, mossy green with a soft, velvety sheen. Fine, slightly raised veins add subtle structure, while the leaf surface appears plush and shimmering under angled light. Growing close to the substrate, the plant forms a dense rosette or “carpet,” making it ideal for terrariums, plant cabinets, or collectors who love miniature aroids with a luxurious texture.
Charming, tactile, and atmospheric, Alocasia ‘Sulawesi Green Carpet’ brings a rainforest-floor aesthetic to small spaces, offering the beauty of velvet Alocasias in a compact, elegant package.
Prefers low to medium, diffused light — similar to its natural understory habitat. Too much bright light may wash out the velvety richness, while deep shade will slow growth. Perfect for terrariums and softly lit cabinets.
Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist, never allowing it to fully dry out. Allow the top 1–2 cm to dry slightly before watering again. Avoid waterlogging, as the delicate roots are sensitive to rot.
Temperature: Thrives at 20–28 °C. Avoid cold draughts and temperatures below 16 °C.
Humidity: Very high humidity (70–90%) is essential. Best grown in a terrarium, plant cabinet, or greenhouse environment.
Use a very airy, moisture-retentive substrate. A mix of fine orchid bark, sphagnum moss, coco peat, and perlite works well. Choose a shallow pot to accommodate its low rosette form. Repot gently every 1–2 years.
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a weak, balanced liquid fertiliser. Overfeeding can damage the sensitive root system.
Remove any yellowing or old leaves at the base. Avoid touching the leaf surface excessively, as the velvety texture is delicate. Maintain strong airflow in high humidity environments to reduce fungal risks.
A slow to moderate grower that typically reaches 10–20 cm in height and spread. Forms a lush, compact mat of rich green leaves over time, creating its signature “carpet” effect.
Crispy edges: Low humidity or underwatering.
Yellowing: Overwatering or soggy soil.
Leaf melt: Sudden temperature drops or too much water.
Pests: Watch for spider mites and thrips in dry conditions.
Alocasia ‘Sulawesi Green Carpet’ is a favourite among terrarium designers and miniature aroid collectors thanks to its refined texture and low-growing habit. Its velvety leaves and compact profile make it ideal for close-up viewing, where its rich colours and subtle details can be fully appreciated.
This species brings a soft, grounding presence to any display, functioning almost like living moss but with the elegance and structure of an Alocasia. It pairs beautifully with ferns, mosses, jewel orchids, and other high-humidity understory plants.
